Does anyone else, when they're in a good enough mood that is, joke about your Crohns etc... in silly ways with a significant other, girlfriend, spouse, boyfriend, etc...

For one example, for a long while now, if I tease my girlfriend about something friendly, she might try to tickle me or smack my shoulder as she smirks and says "you're going to die" (yes I'm always a smart ass), and I'll sometimes reply "NO, not in the Crohns" or "Don't hurt my Crohns" as if it's a bodypart only I have. Or I might say "hey, I haven't gone to the bathroom in like 4 hours, I'm overdue!" when she raises her fist to slug me while she's smiling. She's got to the point where, "I'm going to hit your Crohns" is a threat when we're teasing each other.

It's friendly of course, but if I'm in a good enough mood, Crohns is material for humor.

There's many instances, this is just an example. I'm sure others like Butt or Kim/Mike have their own jokes too, I just thought to turn it around, it shows I may not enjoy it, I may loathe the disease, but as long as Im f***** with it, my mood and sense of humor may roll with it anyways.

wifey always laughs at me when she see's me laying there with a particular "face on"

its my "i'm testing to see if this is a fart" face......

we also belive its OK for me to make fun of the "less fortunate" people in this world because i've already got enough problems in my life.... yep, i'm going to hell....

Too young to "get them"... i joke all the time about my Crohns to my best friend who is my exboyfriend - does that count?

my dad did for a while... until i yelled at him about how I"M the only one who can make fun of it, and that he was insensitive.

now whenever he goes with me to get remicade he tries to make jokes because he's so uncomfortable. i'm training him to sit still and shut up, but it's a slow process.

Oh yeahhh... Bruce and I joke all the time about Crohn's. If I'm not feeling good he'll ask me "Is your Crohn's baby acting up?" or "Is the Crohn's monster awake?" Or he will fart and act like its all big and bad and I'll say "Oh don't MAKE me pull out my weaponry" He also jokes about how I must love our bathroom since I'm in there so much. Bruce also trys to "take my Crohn's away" and he says he has the magical way to do it. It involves him putting his head on my tummy and listening. Then he will say really quietly "I heard the Crohn's monster/baby, but its gone now"

My mom said something pretty funny (I thought) a while back, we were talking with the neighbors and how my poo smells really bad and they go "Is it really that bad?" and she goes "YES! My baby is rottin'" I thought it was hilarious.

Of course I'm the type that make jokes outta EVERYTHING, so it doesn't bother me that they joke about it.

I never thought about it honestly.

But I wonder if I can threaten my kids to do their homework, else I chase them around with my butt and give them crohns....

If I didn't laugh about this disease.....

I use the "I'll bring out the weaponary" line too.

But usually I say to anyone who'll listen "I'm just one big pain in the hole"

Yeah, I joke about it, even when I'm feeling crummy. If you can't make jokes about it it'll drive you mad. Jayne always says that she knows something is really wrong when I don't make some kind of witty remark when I'm feeling bad.

Ha, same here... I'm the type of person that will always joke or pick out the positive... If I've been the the bathroom 17 times I'll say something like "at least I've had a lot of me-time today" and stuff like that.

That is funny, that is how my best friend knows when something is really bad because I won't be joking around and laughing.

See, I often feel like I have to be in a decent mood to joke around, that's often how the gf knows I'm in a bad mood or worried about things (colectomy, losing my job to Crohns etc....), I don't know, probably the surgery aspect, to me, is the "if I get worse" next step, so to me when that comes up, I shut tight.

Oh if I ever had to get a colostomy you are darn skippy I would find the humor in it.

Indulge me Isla. Give me some pointers
I'm trying to find the funny side of getting surgery at the moment and the best I came up with is telling my wife that we'll save a fortune on toilet roll!!

I've also thought about laying on the bed when the anesthetic is being given and quoting William Wallace from the scene at the end of Braveheart. They're about to carry out his sentence, disembowelment, when he say's (Scotch accent)"you can take our lives..... but you'll never take.....OUR FREEDOM!!!!!"

Might be a bit difficult to explain as I'll be going under.

Humours necessary in my eyes, It's good to turn a bad situation into a good one. I often get dissaproving looks over some of the jokes I crack, this is generally all bad situatuions, Laughters the best medicine.

For surgeries and such:

Wear a funny wig.
On your legs write in big letters Do Not Cutt Off!
Ask for a bag that will match your favorite sports team colors, you don't want it to clash with your jersey during your victory dance.
Tell the nurse just before you go under that your really an alien and to ignore the tiny man behind the colon.

Yeah, but I have two S.O.s at the moment.
I guess I'll just answer for both.
One I haven't joked with too much about Crohn's, just frosting.
The other guy, we joke all the time. It's the only way. Who wants to be all serious about poop? If you can't laugh, you'll cry - so might as well laugh about it.
Like I said before, wearing an adult diaper? Not funny. Wearing one of my daughter's old diapers? Kind of funny!
I can't think of a specific example, surprisingly and neither can he, but it seems like it's every day.

Ha, "the other guy" happens to be who the state considers your spouse.

See, you mentioned the adult diaper, not funny. See, there's a line. I find it tragic.

Oh, THAT guy.
Yeah - I said diapers are NOT funny. That's why I threw my kid's one on when I was real bad this summer. It still sucked but it was a little humorous compared to a real one. I have to find the humor, even when crapping my pants.
I'm usually asleep when my husband goes to work, but I woke up this morning to go to the potty. When his alarm went off I gave him a cuddle and said 'Aren't you glad for my pooper??" cuz it woke me up. Not really funnny, but one small example.
I think I wrote this before, but when my daughter caught me with her diaper in my pants she said "I am NOT gonna tell my preschool friends!" Which means she probably is...
