Elevated HgbA1C of 5.7 considered prediabetic. 17 yr old with perianal Crohns. What else is going to happen ? Exhausted.

Were you able to get an answer from her doctor about this question?

Sorry I have no idea.

Yes. They will monitor level. When it reaches around 6, they will probably start Metformin. She was also placed on birth control pills to control hormone levels related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Just got over C Diff and thought things were going to be calm for a while. Bright red blood with stools x 3 today and in a lot of pain. Has Perianal Crohns. Her GI reduced her Remicade after levels were running high. Think this was bad idea with her recurring symptoms.

Anything is possible. We have been through so much since Oct 2012. This is my second child with Crohns. Can't go even two weeks without something popping up. Her GI thinks she is in remission. Don't think so.

Stress and stress hormones cause insulin resistance. Has she been on any steroids (or other meds that can raise blood sugars) in the past 3 months?
