Hi guys

I'm having pillcam on the 6th and am actually starting to feel a bit nervous because the GI said that if there is a narrowing the pillcam will get stuck and they will "whip me into theatre and remove it and pillcam at the same time" umm not sure how I feel about this.. I was feeling fine with it but now getting anxious that with my tummy feeling weird at the moment and not pooing as much as I'm taking in that I DO have a narrowing and it WILL get stuck :-s

Has anyone had emergency surgery for this reason? How did you know things had gone bad and had to have the surgery? Or did it just not come out within a specified time? I presume I have to keep an eye out for the pillcam in the toilet?

My GI had talked about a pill cam for me, but he said they have a "tester" one, that if it got stuck it would just dissolve and they would know to not give me a real pillcam. Have they talked to you about that?

He never said anything to me about an emergency surgery or anything like that!

Alot of Hospitals also do a Barium X-Ray before a Pill Cam to check for narrowing (and some people have been diagnosed from one).

I can appreciate how freaked out you must be at the project, but although the term is emergency, I am sure they have plans in place for Pill Cam patients and it would go smoothly should it need to be done.

On a positive side, if it did get stuck and they had to go in, they could have a good look at your insides while they are in there which is a good opportunity and might help with a dx.

the CTE I had showed some inflammation in the ileum but no strictures but when the GI wrote to the public GI who was doing my scopes his letter said he suspected stricture as per CTE.. SOOOOO confuzzled! The CTE was not long ago so unless a narrowing has popped up since then?
Yes, would be GREAT if it DID show something! Have had a laparoscopy not long ago (this year) and they couldn't find anything unusual so unless it's all IN the bowel *shrugs* can they chuck a scope in the bowel if they have to cut it open?
