I purchased Emetrol for nausea OTC at my drug store today. I never saw or heard of it before but the "pharmacist recommend" U.S. news rating marketing worked on me.

Anyone try this stuff? I'm sure it's not as strong as Zofran but it might be a good option.

I haven't personally taken it, and it doesn't seem like there are too many reviews popping up when I search it. One says that it's been very helpful for them, and looking up side-effects says that the only thing that might provoke some kind reaction is the sugar in it.

Yes, it contains phosphoric acid as the active ingredient. This is one of the major sweeteners in most sodas.

I tried Emetrol, did not have any effect. Zofran doesn't touch it. Phenergan is the only thing that touches it for me but it is prescription. Emetrol didn't have any negative effects for me personally, just did not work. I don't do well with sugars and "theOcean" comments may have been the reason. I have nausea every day - undetermined cause.

Hope you feel better!!

I LOVE emetrol! It doesn't help as much as Zofran, but it is nice for when I am nauseous even after I have maxed out on anti-nausea meds. And it doesn't interact with any drugs, so that is definitely a plus as I take LOTS of meds.

I've been using it for over a year and it hasn't had any negative effects. Love it, love it, love it.

Good to know about this. I will look into it. Pharmacy ran out of Zofran this weekend and I tried gravol. It did nothing for my daughter. Her nasuea has been bad since starting EEN. She has already vomited her NG tube out twice so we are trying to avoid it at all costs. Can't wait until Monday when it is in. Glad there are some alternatives in a pinch.
