Hi Everyone,

I've been living with Crohn's for the past 10 years after having a bowel resection to remove several inches for large and small bowel and terminal ileum.

For the past few years I have gone through periods where i have had some strange night time symptoms.

I wake up at more or less the same time every night (2am) and it will take ages go for met to get back to sleep. I have the strange feeling of having an empty bowel. It's not what I'd call painful just uncomfortable. It's almost like I feel hungry but not really.

If I have a huge stoggy meal in the evening I don't tend to have the problem.

I've spoken to my Gastro and he didn't seam that interested.

My consultant thinks I may have IBS in addition to the Crohn's, we may investigate the IBS if things don't settle down.

Does anyone else have these sort of symptoms?

Any tips on what I could try to help them apart from having a huge curry every night:)?

Thanks in advance

Simon

Hmm, that is interesting. What you are describing is not a usual symptom of IBS though. I mean honestly, there is No test out there to diagnose IBS. IBS is just what they blame different digestive issues that they cannot find a cause to so not sure how your doctor plans to investigate...

Hope the feeling will pass. When you wake up feeling this, do you think if you drank a small glass of water it would help??? Just a thought.

not sure about this, its just a idea to try.

loperamide hydrochloride ( comes under many different names - diarrhea tablets Lopex, Imodium, Dimor, Fortasec, Lopedium)
they work like a painkiller but only on your intestines, a side affect of them is that they also slow down the movement of poo.

sounds like they could be the answer to your problems, be carefull though as can cause constipation if used all the time.
