My daughter who is 11 has been on Entocort for 2 weeks now and has blood in her stools. It looks like a ribbon through the stool. And Thursday night she had blood drops floating in toilet with stool. I guess this is a bad side effect. We are meeting with GI Dr on Wed to discuss moving her off Entocort and on to Rimicade. She rarely had blood in her stools in past 6 months since getting diagnosed and just was scoped prior to start of Entocort. She looked a lot better since Dec scoping but still has some active inflammation in terminal illieum. Worried about her going on Rimicade. Anyone else experience this side effect?

Current meds: Pentasa, 6mp, probiotics, Zantac, 2.5 mg prednisone (almost weaned off) and 9 mg Entocort

I don't see it listed as a side effect and I've never had that problem nor have I seen someone else mention it on the forum. My guess is that since she's had bleeding in the past it may not be the steroid causing the bleeding. It may be from weaning off the Prednisone too soon and the fact that Entocort can take up to a month to start working so perhaps she needed a steroid a little longer and at a higher dose. I also had bleeding when I was a kid and my inflammation was also in my TI (I took Prednisone, 6MP and Asacol during flares and before my resection I took Prednisone and Entocort at the same time with high doses along with the other two meds. Remicade sounds better than surgery any day if its come to that.).

Call the GI up the second you get the chance and let them know. If you see more blood or if symptoms get worse then a trip to the ER might be a good idea. Keep us posted!
