Entocort Dose: Twice or Once?

2010, I remember taking 9 mg all at once...I think.

Now I've been taking 6mg at once, but the refill bottle says 1 pill twice a day. Is there an advantage to this, or should it be both pills at one time?

I take 9mg all at once . I have been up to 12mg before and still all at once . I have been taking this drug for a couple years now and it has always been in a single dose .

Why have you taken this for so long? Isn't 8 weeks the optimal treatment timeframe? Is Entocort used as a maintenance drug? If so what about the side affects?

The plan hasn't been to keep me on this drug for so long , but it seems to be the only thing that helps relieve my crohns symptoms . I have been the one who gets the negative side effects from the maintance drugs , ie ; methotrexate elevated my liver enzymes to high , humira gave me rhumatoid arthritis and drug induced lupus , Imuran gave me pancreatitis , and cimzia didn't seem to do anything so that ended with my second surgery . As for side effects of the steroid nothing noticable other than what the bone density test showed . Which was I have osteopenia . So now I take calcium, with fingers crossed . I don't like being on steroids , but hey right now things are fairly normal for me . I am back to work after being off for a year . Anyway I hope this helps you .

I thought I might add that entocort is a walk in the park compared to predisone . I asked them to never put me on that drug again . I couldn't hardly live with me . Made me very irritable .

The reason I ask is I have been on Entocort for 6 weeks while waiting to see my specialist. I have read 8 weeks is the optimal treatment timeframe and then weaning begins after that. It has helped me a lot but has not completely taken away all my symptoms. Still have some bad days. I am wondering if my new specialist will continue this Entocort or start the wean. Also I have read where some use it as a maintenance drug.

I have not taken 6 mp, methotrexate or imuran. I have taken a short 6 week course of Humira when I had to stop it due to a "flu" infection.
