Hi everyone. I posted a few days ago when the forum was all messed up, and some of you were very encouraging in telling me your experiences with Entocort. Well, I started on a 9mg dose on Tuesday morning, at the tail end of what had been a couple of pretty miserable days. Wednesday as the day went on, I started noticing that I wasn't in constant horrible pain, and that the pain had dulled some and was a little more sporadic. I felt so much better than I had over the past week that I stayed late at work yesterday and didn't even mind getting caught in the dark and rainy night when I left to go home. Then, at around 9 or 10pm, I started to get some pretty bad stomach pains, mostly on the lower right side, which is where my pain always is. I told myself it was just because I hadn't taken the medicine since the morning, and I'd be taking it again next morning, so don't worry. BUT - I woke up at around 6 this morning feeling like something in my abdomen was about to explode. I got out of bed to go to the bathroom, and when I tried to stand up, I doubled over onto the floor because the pain was so intense. There I was, just a few hours after my excitement about Entocort working, on the floor in the fetal position, crying. I called out of work (they, thankfully, were super understanding and told me to take whatever time i need) and then called my GI. He told me that this was not a reaction to the Entocort, which is good, I suppose, cos I can still give it a chance to work. He said to just take my pain meds, rest, and call him tomorrow. So, that's all I did today - doped myself up and watched tv and slept. I really really hope that if I can sleep ok tonight (with all my drugs I think that'll happen) then tomorrow will be a better day.
Phew...the point of my sharing my miserable day was not to throw a pity party for myself. Really, I came on here to ask if anyone else who has been on Entocort ever had something like this, where you start taking it and have a sort of "storm before the calm" or "darkness before the light" type experience. Of course, it could just be a fluke of a bad Crohn's day while I am waiting for the Entocort to kick in. Thoughts?
Thanks for reading through this silly rant. I hope you're all having good nights
