Hopefully, this will give those undergoing testing something to ask you GI about - Eosinophic Intestinal Diseases - I am wondering if it is a common practice to test for when a small intestinal endoscopy with biopsies is done [which is the only current way to dx it]? I have seen it mentioned on the internet that these diseases can be related to IBD. Here is a good site to check out for more information: http://apfed.org/drupal/drupal/symptoms_of_EGIDs

Not common practice they have to be looking for it. It is not related to ibd .
EoE is a mixed IgE mediated allergic disorder .
When they take biopsies the Gi needs to take from specific locations.
The treatment is elimination of triggers usually top eight food allergens but allergy patch testing is sometimes also done. Most need to be put on swallowed steroids (Flovent) or elemental diet ( neocate or elecare)
If it is in the colon then it's EC - which can be controlled by diet and or steroids.

Thanks for the answer. I have been surfing the internet to see what I can find out. I just got back from the GI and having upper + lower scopes with biopsies, plus esophagus dilation. He did the biopsies to test for all kinds of things including Eosinophilic Digestive disorder. Now just need to wait on the biopsy results. By the way, all was real easy once the IV was in!
