Hi - I'm wondering if anyone else has had the side effect of severe D from using Pentasa?

I seem to get a sudden, bad dose of D about 8 hours after taking Pentasa granules. I have Crohn's in the terminal ileum, these granules are supposed to work their way round to there before they release the drug.

My doctor says this is a possible side effect, but I'm not sure whether it's the drug or the Crohn's (great that D is a side effect of a drug which keeps a disease which has the principle symptom of D in remission... sigh). I'd be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this?

i've never had increased D due to pentasa but then it never really helped my crohn's in the first place.

I am also taking Pentasa. I believer you are taking the slow-release type?

So far did not have any side effect.

It was determined by my specialist that Pentasa didn't work for me either, so I can't really give a true indication, I did still get D whilst using it but I wouldn't have said it got any worse than usual.
