A new drug has been approved to help sufferers of Crohn's disease, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced on Tuesday. The drug Cimzia, which is manufactured by a U.S. company, received approval for adults with moderate to severe Crohn's disease who have not responded to conventional therapies, said FDA in a statement.:)

Jed.. Not sure why you reported this post.. Perhaps because to read the story on this particular website, you have to sign up N register. No one is in any way trying to sell Cimzia... it's only available by doctors prescription, and only in countries where it has been approved by regulating agencies (that's how new it is).. Unless there was a post that has been deleted before I got here. There may be other websites where interested folks can source info on Cimzia without signing up to the mindshare website. Anyone interested has the option of Googling it, or registering with Mindshare, or if anyone here is an existing user of that site, maybe they can copy N paste it here for folks. I think the Cimzia info may be worth looking into for some.

My doctor brought up Cimzia but wasn't ready to suggest it to me. I will try Humira first. Maybe I'm being unfair but I don't want to be one of the first few thousand to try Cimzia.

I posted a link to a story on google news a couple weeks back when the approval was announced and it didn't seem to be removed...though I could have missed it since I haven't went looking for it. t is great news to have another option like this available to us. One of the benefits of cimzia is that it is formulated to require only 1 shot per month rather than 2 like humira.

Yeah, being the first kid on the block to try a new med isn't a pleasant feeling. It worked out for me (knock wood)... but Naltrexone wasn't exactly a new drug, just a new use for an old one; and the side effects of using it full strength were known N well documented. Still and all, I really sweated my decision for a while. I guess it helps to feel really, really desparate. :-(

sowwy, i saw this post when after i was reading thru a lot of other posts that just all looked like advertising.

i apologise ruth.

hehe you're not the only newbie to put one's foot in it :D you're a real forum family member now, jed :D

ha!

in all honesty, i tried to take a little care before reporting, i looke through all ruth posts and thought it was spam.

naughty jed!

I see JED's point.
Ruth's posts seem factual, but not personal, and the first few made me skeptical about why she was here. We still don't have a story about her. They just seem a little odd to me. Helpful, maybe. But why?
