One of my dear friends had very severe MRSA but it's now under control for a few months. I know that MRSA stays dormant in most but I fear catching it.

How likely is it to catch MRSA from them given my immunosuppressive meds? hugging, talking, and inhaling the same air they sneeze and cough in.

Jack currently has MRSA and as you know hubby/dad has Crohn's no issue so far. But if you have an open wound I would definitely be extra cautious. We do keep Jack's wound covered and lots of hand washing so that would be a concern if your friend is not careful about hygiene after touching/taking care of their wound.
Dad and Jack regularly wrestle around so lots of contact.

On the nhs website it seems to be contracted through mainly open wounds and is a commonly carried bacteria in the population you,ve probably got more chance of picking up the nor overuse which would you believe has broken out at the commonwealth games and it's not even started!

Hmmm...that's hard to say. Have you mentioned your concerns to your doc? Being immunocompromised, I would be hesitant to have a lot of contact with your friend. But I suppose that just being around each other would be safe.

Rumor has it that all the illegal immigrants crossing the border are carrying all kind of contagions. Tuberculosis being one of the bigger concerns because they are moved out too quickly and cannot be properly screened.

Then they are scattered in various communities.

I expect we will be hearing a lot more about this in the months ahead.

Dan
