Hi, my husband has diagnosed Crohn's Disease and our five year old just started having symptoms. Her fecal calprotectin level was around 1400 and she has been scheduled for an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. With her dad's history and her symptoms, I'm leaning towards Crohn's, but has anyone had levels this high and not had it be some type of chronic condition?

Oops. I responded to your thread in the adult section. Maybe one if the fancy forum moderators or such can move the entire thread over.

Fecal calp. Can elevated from infections. But I would probably be thinking along the same lines as you are especially with a family history of crohns.

A high fecal cal can sometimes show up with Celiac Disease. You can ask for a Celiac panel to be run and, as long as they are going in for an endoscopy, they can do biopsies and check for blunted villi as well. Just don't jump too far ahead and pull gluten from her diet yet. She needs to be eating gluten regularly for the testing process to be accurate.

Good luck!
