Hi everyone--I don't post very often but have had crohn's for 25 years. It is mostly in my small bowel and I have had two resections. I still struggle from severe nausea almost daily. A recent endoscopy found a hiatal hernia, gastritis, duodenitis and esophagitis. The Dr. does not think this is related to my crohn's but I disagree...

Anyway, probably once per month (sometimes more) I'm having fecal incontinence in the middle of the night. I don't even realize it's happening until morning. Last night was probably the worst it has ever been. I woke up to lots of watery stool in my underwear. Sorry for being so graphic.

Anyway, I have been looking for some research on this and I'm not finding all that much. My disease hasn't really been in my large intestine or anal/rectum. I'm almost worried that this is something else like MS. I have a lot of numbness type of feelings in my hand and feet.

If anyone can relate at all, please post. THanks in Advance. Also wanted to add I'm 42 years old.

I normally have to go urgently when i wake up, though i havent had an accident in my sleep. Have you told your doctor about this?

I have had accidents several times a day and night prior to my ostomy surgery. I can't tell you what's causing them but you can wear a diaper and have a bed pad in case it happens. I also put a waterproof plastic cover beneath my sheets to ensure the mattress didn't get damaged.
