all. My gp suspects Crohn's or uc. I have an 8 week history of stomach cramps and dia, ? Blood in stools and I've lost a stone since beg of Jan unintentionally.
My symptoms worsened over the weekend and my calprotectin result last Fri was 611, so he started me on tapering dose of prednisolone 40mg while I wait for colorectal review.
My nan has Crohn's so it is in the family.
I've been on pred for 3 days and the only improvement I've seen is that my stools don't seem as reddish.
Would be great to hear any advise or thoughts on what's going on and any tips I can try to help improve things. Thanks in advance everyone!😊Rachel

Pred takes a little while to start working, I think it was at least a couple of weeks for me before anything improved.
Thanks lizzie. I've had a few pains today but not as bad as it has been yay! I'm on my 4th dose of prednisolone so maybe it's kicking in a bit now
I just hate the feeling I get when I've eaten.........it's like I've got a slab of concrete in my stomach that is trying to force it's way out.......i also feel mega tired after eating a meal to the point where I have to go to bed sometimes.

Hi Twinkle,

Pred does take a few days, at least, to work. Hopefully it will kick in soon and you'll be feeling a lot better!

Are you eating smaller, lighter meals? I found that helped me with stomach pains et. I know it seems counterproductive, especially if you're trying to put on weight, but it might be easier if you ate more often, smaller meals.

Hi Malicious,

I definitely feel a bit better from taking pred......I'm now tampering down. I've still got cramps nearly every day but dia is not as bad.

The main symptoms I've had from pred is tiredness and mild headache.

Your right the smaller meals do help and suit me better.

Hope you are well

Thanks for reply.
