Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before but Im a Remicade/Infliximab newbie...

I'm due to start Infliximab soon (got a meeting with my IBD nurse next week for questions but wanted some info now! :) )

when you start, do you have to have to have a few doses in quick succession to build it up in your system or is is just roughly once every 8 weeks from the get go?

How long did it take people to start to feel good again after starting the treatment? I've been told if no luck with this then surgery is on the cards :-(

Thank you :) x

Yep 3 "loading" doses happen mine are at 0, 2weeks, then 4 weeks after#2 - although timing seems to vary a liitle depending on which country you are in. After the laoding doses you go every 6-8 weeks depending on how well it lasts.

I have heard every where from immediately to several months before people felt well enough to consider them in remission.

I have had 2 doses and am beginning to see some changes in pain levels and food tolerances.

I'm set to start remicade on Jan 30(it was supposed to be today but the stupid hospital decided to ask approval the day before) anyway I was told I'll have 3 doses in quick session to build up in my system. Week 0, week 2 and week 6 whicjh takes me to the full 8 week mark. After these I see my GI again to assess how well it's working and then I'll see him again after my 2nd round(after the 8th week again) to reasse how it's working. If it appears to not be helping then I'll see a surgeon..

I love REmi Been on it since april of 2011 and god it's good stuff!

Good luck and keep us posted.
