Hi all! so currently i have a stricture in my colon that was dilated a few days ago. While the doctor was performing the colonoscopy he noticed a fistula from my small bowel to colon. We were suspicious of this fistula being there but it would not show on a ct scan so we thought it healed up. Anyway its there and confirmed now. Currently my doctor has me on 6mp and asacol he wants to see how well i do for a while before deciding when to do surgery. I want to do surgery as soon as possible as i will ultimately in the future need sugery to remove the fistula so i want to get the ball rolling and start to feel better. What im asking is for your guys opinion or advice. I really need to see another perspective and your personal stories would be appreciated. anyone else live with a fistula between bowel loops? i am also concerned what my quality of life between the two decisions. Will i be living with side effects of a fistula and a stricture or will i be living with side effects of surgery? basically is what im wondering.

My fistula is peri-anal, so unfortunately I can't give advice about your particular case... has your GI spoken to you about starting antibiotics though? Or is he planning on putting you on them for the fistula after the surgery?

Hi electricdrifter,

I had the same problem recently, they found a quarter size hole in my small intestine which end up being a fistula and then found stricture in my illem. I end up having surgery in april 19th at a UCS hospital. The best damn thing I never done in my damn life. This surgery gave my life back. I'm currently on recovery mode right now just got out the hospital. Currently at home just resting and eating normal now to get my energy back. I was on Humira once a week, Predisdone 20mg and it wasn't controlling my Crohn's.

Good Luck to you on your choice!
