food tolerances

Hi guys i just had 1 infusion and feel heaps better although still having troubles with the bowel.

I was just wondering if after a few infusions you can eat or tolerate more foods I have problems with fruit and i love fresh fruit also can you digest meats I had a souvlaki the other day and suffered the next day with toilets and in the guts so yeah just wondering if your food tolerances improved

Also I get hot after I eat is this normal

Hopefully the less inflammation you have, the more foods you can eat. It's not a guarantee, but you'll certainly be more likely to tolerate something under control than when you're in a flare. Good luck.

Dunno about getting hot after you eat. I would not use the word normal to describe that. But if it's always been that way for you it might be "normal for you."

Yes, I'm able to tolerate a lot of things that I couldn't before. I still have to steer clear of the worst offenders though, which for me are caffeine, sugars and red meat. Not sure about the feeling hot, though. Is it every time you eat or just with particular foods?

I don't get like real hot and sweat but i feel much warmer after a meal maybe my body is restoring itself and absorbing nutrients finally my friend who is completley healthy gets this aswell so who knows

Also just wanted to know about food tolerances with the festive season coming and here in australia its summer so heaps of my friends and relatives having bbq's and got alot of birthdays coming in the first few months of next year so just wanted to be able to eat something instead of being scared to eat out

Food tolerances are completely personal. You can check out the fitness and diet subforum, this topic has been discussed a LOT, I'm sure you can find some helpful information there. There's also a thread that compiles the most commonly tolerated foods and the foods that are least commonly tolerated.

Probably the most widespread rule of thumb is the more fibrous it is, the less likely you will tolerate it. Many people on here can't eat raw vegetables or foods like broccoli or cabbage. But again, it's personal. So if you can eat broccoli just fine then you should. Or if you can't tolerate white bread, eat it at your discretion.

I think you missed the point of my original post I was wondering if you can tolerate more foods after remicade I'm not asking about food tolerances in general as I know what I can and can't eat I was just wondering as the gut heals if I could eat more foods

Ah, I tried to answer your first post in my first post, and your second post in my second post. Theoretically you will be able to eat more foods as your gut heals. But this isn't the case for everyone. It's very personal. I would just suggest that you experiment a little at a time and see if you tolerate foods you didn't previously.

chicken and seafood are my favourites and thank god I can tolerate them no probs as I've never been a big red meat fan don't like the taste or smell of it but i eat it on occasion like the souvlaki to keep the iron up

Good thing your tolerating most foods. I can eat almost literally anything now unless I flare which has happened once in the year and a bit I've been on Remicade. I went to Mexico a week after my first infusion and I ate more that week than I had in the previous 2 or 3 months (which was a huge flare up) and I gained 15 lbs. in that one week. I can even eat McDonalds now without much issue which before Remicade never stayed in my bowels longer than 20 minutes.

wow thats great to hear I have probs digesting mcdonalds I can feel it going down my gut and I get sick after eating eat bad D and blood and my well being turns to crap but might give it a shot after a few months on remicade

Oh don't get my wrong it still doesn't feel great  but it doesn't send me sprinting for toilets like I used to. I call it the McGurggles :D
