I was lucky enough to be a part of an awesome online project and wanted to share the end result with you.

For anyone not familiar with the classical/choral music world, Eric Whitacre is a well-known American composer who decided a few years ago to put together a virtual choir where people would submit YouTube videos and become a choir of people from different countries without ever being in the same room.

It was Virtual Choir 1.0 where they sang his piece "Lux Aurumque." It was simply breathtaking.

I didn't learn about this project until after it's conception, but last year Eric decided to do Virtual Choir 2.0. I immediately decided I was going to be a part of it.

Well, it just premiered today! Here's the direct link. I'm in there somewhere, but have yet to spot my face. Let me know if any of you can find me. ;)

Enjoy! :)

Thats cool Marisa... I couldnt see your face either but none-the -less cool! Great idea!!
I liked the persons comment/question about if its ironic that they were watching it at 1 am...hehe

how did you get involved in it?

Well, I first heard about Eric Whitacre in college when my choir sang some of his songs. I was completely mesmerized by his music.

I friended him on Facebook and just over the course of the years heard about his Virtual Choir. I had missed the first one, but decided I was definitely going to do the 2nd one. He also has an Eric Whitacre Virtual Choir Facebook page that I "liked" as well. And then I got periodic updates about what the requirements were and how to be involved.

It was simple really. :) You should do the 3rd one whenever he decides to do that, haha!

trust me... you guys dont want me to sing :)

did you do it online??? looks like people are at their computer...

Yup! People recorded their own individual voice part while listening to a piano play the accompaniment on headphones. We watched him conduct on a pre-recorded track and then uploaded it onto YouTube. His audio team tracked all the submissions on YouTube and they spliced all the tracks together to make up a virtual choir. So, the only thing we ever heard and saw were the piano and his conducting. We didn't know at all what everyone together would sound like :)

That's so cool! What a neat thing to be a part of.

There's an internet famous guy who did something similar once. He got a bunch of people to sing a song he wrote for a woman suffering from anxiety. It's pretty sweet. You can read more about it at his site.

That is pretty nice Marisa!! Sorry could not spot you though....too many faces lol ! I did enjoy this though thank you it was very peaceful :)

I looked for you...Wanted to some how slow it down and blow up all the pictures! Thanks for sharing. How great to be a part of!

Thanks ladies :) Supposedly Eric Whitacre will be on Good Morning America tomorrow morning to talk about the Virtual Choir. So, maybe those that regularly watch it may catch it!
