I'm sooo happy  that DD is going back to school tomorrow.. this time last week we weren't sure when she was getting out of the hospital.. And I'm glad that school lunches are getting somewhat healthy.. somewhat...

but man = fiber needs to be limited for her, and their menus have TONS of it. :ybatty: especially the foods she LIKES

this is a sample of this month's menu -- http://www.tusd1.org/contents/depart/food/documents/msnutrilnch_cycle1.pdf

to boot?? she's a picky eater - likes fried stuff (which is a nono right now), and the pizza (also apparently a nono due to the grease).

:pout:

We just have DS pack so diet is controlled .
And he gets to pick the food .
Lots if healthy options that way

she just went through the whole menu for this and next month & it looks like it's all OK, except thursdays /whew/

I don't see a daily menu, but if it becomes a problem, I too would suggest packing lunches. I hated not being able to see what my daughter was eating (often she didn't eat anything), but her issue has been not eating anyway...

Jack packs a lunch but then he is an extremely picky eater and he says the lines are too long for any of the good stuff.

she'll be packing on Thursdays, but the school district will accommodate her nutritional needs, by supplying her a different menu. They have to as part of her 504. woot

We pack a lunch everyday. Our school went to 'high fiber and whole wheat everything'. By packing his lunch he gets longer to eat. :)

We pack as well, but DS is gluten free and the only thing the school offers on the GF menu is salads, contrary to his 504 plan.

Considering that pizza is considered a vegetable in the US, I have very little faith in the nutritional quality of school food services. Just my opinion though!
