So, I'm supposed to be in a flare right now, and I don't have any kind of constipation or diarrhea. What's making my days a living hell, is that whenever I eat or drink ANYTHING no matter how light it is (even water) I get this trapped gas, and frequent burping that won't go away.

Is this supposed to be the case? Like I have googled the symptoms and gas was not mentioned that much. I'm afraid there might be something else wrong, and I don't really have enough time to see my doctor soon as I have finals this week.

So, long story short, is excessive gas part of the flare? Could it be the only symptom that's causing discomfort?

P.S: I'm diagnosed with ileocolitis.

I know that bloating can be a part of Crohn's. Are you on any OTC like Prevacid?

I know it is a part of it, but it literally is the ONLY thing that's giving me a hard time. I don't even have any pain, except in the area where the gases are gathered.

I do take Pantoprazole, and for the gases I have tried almost everything. I'm currently on activated dimethicone; it's not really helping, but it's the best among the others I have tried.

I now wonder if it could be from gerd

There's no acid reflux, as I'm managing that by taking both antacids and pantoprazole.

I couldn't sleep well last night and I'm seeing my doctor tonight as I won't be able to study anything this way.

I really hope he'll be able to figure it out ASAP.

Update: I have seen my doctor and he said that my small intestines are severed so bas with ulcers leading to malabsorption, which means whatever food I eat stays there for a very long time which causes the permanent gas.

There's actually nothing to do about it but keep taking meds and wait for the ulcers to heal. :/

I had this sort of thing for a while. Avoiding hot or very cold drinks seemed to help, as did eating slower (it's possible you're swallowing air). And although fizzy drinks sound like they'd make things worse I found they actually helped, perhaps it got it out sooner.

The antacid could be making things worse. There is such a thing as low stomach acid, which paradoxically causes indigestion. Belching after eating is a symptom.

I once tried drinking a fizzy drink, and it gave me a sudden relief but after that things worsened. I'm trying my best to chew as slow and thorough as possible.

Regarding the antacids, I think you're right. My doctor said that I should be taking them one hour after eating so that they won't interfere with the digestion. I'm gonna cut down on those a little bit for today and see the outcome.

Thanks for the advice.
