As long as I can function I am going to continue this annual CCFA fundraiser. I was diagnosed with CD in 1993, had surgery in 1995, but am doing fairly well thanks to all the great doctors, medical staff, researchers and CCFA folks, all working to make the world a better place for IBD sufferers. April 21, 2008 will mark our third annual event. You probably have to be an automotive enthusiast to fully appreciate GGAT. Basically, we rent a race track (road course, lots of turns in both directions) and allow folks to take their cars (mostly sportscars) on the track and drive at racing speeds. But we do not race... no prizes, no timing, lots of safety precautions. We have a great safety record. Even better, we have raised nearly $20,000 from the track activities and raffles.

Just in case you want to find out more, log on to www.gotgutsatthunderhill.com. Thanks for listening.

That's awesome, something I've always wanted to do if I had a fast car and someplace to do it. And for the benefit of Crohn's sufferers and CCFA, that's even better. Have a good time, I'm all for it.

Thanks. But it doesn't always take a fast car. About 1/3 of the participants drive Miatas, some with as much as 100 horsepower at the wheels. :ycool:

Well, I know a fella who thought his $60K sports car was the hottest thing on the road... Till 'it' was outperformed by a $15K 5 speed with 86hp 1.2 litre 4 cylinder.

GGATIII looks like it will be another great success with another substantial donation to CCFA. :mademyday: With a month left to go, we are already in the black several thousand $$$. I can hardly get into our spare bedroom with all the raffle prizes stored in there. I'm already looking forward to GGATIV next year. Thank you drivers, supporters and raffle donors. And keep it coming.

Got Guts At Thunderhill

GREAT NEWS! Got Guts III was a big success. All 80 drivers had a great (and safe) time on the track, CCFA representatives from San Francisco were there to help us increase awareness of IBD and all that needs to be done to find a cure, AND we raised more than $14,000 toward that effort. Thanks to all the drivers, raffle prize donors, and raffle supporters who made this effort successful.

A check for $14,025.31 will be presented to CCFA at SAMOA's June 12th meeting in Sacramento. Mark April 20, 2009 on your calendar for GGATIV.
