So i went for my review appointment today at the hospital and I have a new GI.
Surprised i certainly was. He started by saying , You,ve got an inflammatory bowel disease and im here to find out what sort it is .
He said that i also had some other symptoms that where causing confusion . So we did a lot of bloods including ESR, Folate, B12 , Vitamin D, Liver ,and about 20 other things that I cant remember . He put me down for another colonoscopy and inspected me for a while. After poking me around the naval for a while he said i was a bit lumpy on the right side.
He asked a whole bunch of questions and looked at everything from my fingernails to my ankles.
So in the mean time Im to stay on the Asacol and I have to take back stool samples asap .
All in all it was a pretty full on inspection and I actually felt like this is what is supposed to happen when you see the GI.
So maybe this one will stay the distance and finally get somewhere.:smile:

Peter, that's wonderful! It sounds like you found a great, thorough doc who takes your symptoms seriously! :) I wish you the best of luck with the blood work and the colonoscopy, and please keep us updated as to what those tests find. Hopefully a proper diagnosis and some real relief is in your near future!

Cat , it made such a difference to an otherwise awful week. I think he intends to rule out as many variables and rely on the blood work. He was quite amazed that no one was was on my case and when i told him i was not getting any bloods done with my GP he was not amused.
I suggested that i would go private if it would speed the process up but he said that wouldn't be necessary. So I can only hope and pray that something shows up, at this stage I think I would do almost anything to get some sort of normality back for me and my family.

I does feel good when a dr really pays attention and listens and is serious about getting to the bottom of things, doesn't it? I hope you get answers soon!

Fab update Peter! :panda::panda::panda:

I am so happy for you that you now have someone that is so thorough and actually listens! YAY! I'm impressed that he looked at your fingernails, not many docs do that. :)

Good luck mate and I hope you get the answers you seek and need. :goodluck:

This is great news. It seems there are so many variables, it's great to see your new doc jump right in! I've been seeing my current GI long enough that if I stump him, it's not a good thing. Let's hope this doc gets to know you so well!

Fab news Peter!
No, you're defo not mad, and I'm impressed with your doc looking at your nails too!
Let us know how you get on and I hope you get that dx, frame it, I did. I waited 15 years for mine!

hey Joan, I was impressed in that he was looking at the problem with a view to IBD as his baby . He seemed to have a good understanding and listened to all my rants. So here's hoping that there is light !
