I had a colonscopy a few months ago and it showed 2 ulcer in my terminal ileum and 'mild non specific changes' in my colon. Since i had salmonella in march my GI says these changes are due to the salmonella infection and so are my symptoms. He said i would be feeling better in a few months. however for 3 weeks i have been feeling really bad, not eating, having alot of D, really bad pains and aching all over. So i went in to see my GP and he says that he feels really sorry that ive been left like this and that he honestly thinks i have crohns. so he wrote a letter to my GI requesting further investigations.

i really dont know what to think my GI told me that I dont have crohns and hes sure of it, but my GP told me crohns can easily be missed and i wouldnt be coming down really bad with just IBS. I dont want it to be left in pain, but i dont want to be diagnosed and be put on medication if i dont have crohns.

HI there, I vote for your GP, my doctors in my first dx were fighting, the Gi says I did, and the surgeon said I didnt... well I know who was right because I got fed up, left my gp, gi, and surgeon to once and for all get away from them and get to a teaching doctor and within ten minutes he was sure it was crohns, had a endoscopy barium follow thru, even I could see the looping, coincidentally the tech also had crohns and he confirmed it. So if you want to get a proper diagnosis see another Gi. Most people think that and internist is the same as a GI, they are not,Gi are the best. Get your Gp to recommend another Gi, kudos for him. My Gp believed my gi and they both thought is best to go outside...after all this,my female gp quit.... she couldn't believe these doctors with big egos and not looking after her patient! Dont give up ok. IBS dont have ulcers and the terminal Ileum is a classic spot for Crohns! Good luck keep us posted!

I'll doubt you'll get a CD diagnosis without lots of pointers- Drs really do not like diagnosing it unless they have lots of solid proof.

If you don't get anywhere with such an unhelpful GI you can ask to see someone else.

If I'm reading this right, your scope where he saw the ulcers was three months ago? And he said they were from Salmonella? And you're getting worse?

I'd suggest a new GI and a new opinion.

You're not being a pain. You DESERVE quality treatment and there is NOTHING wrong with getting another opinion.
