So, I am in some pain, call gi Mon--No call back till Tues. She says go back on 20 mg of prednisone. Took prednisone, I realize that prednisone won't work immediately. But, or should I say "BUTT", was absolutely killing me last night. I mean pain. So, finally I stopped "D" and fell asleep. Woke up in a baadd mood. My daughter asked me if I was going back in the hospital! I got on the phone, called GI's practitioner. Told her -- I mean told her, Pentassa is obviously not working. I need to move on to the next drug. SHe said, well give prednisone A chance. I said ok--but in the mean time...obviously Pentassa is not working and to get the GI thinking of what our next step is...She was a little put off...but, you know what...This is B'sh_). It is 2010---. Sorry, I should have posted this under a rant. WHat do you all think?! Sue

OH you poor things Sue... I must admit Pentas didnt turn out to be the miracle bum cork for me that I had hoped it would....
I know you do have to give these things a lead time to really take effect, but it is so frustrating in the meantime...
I am finding its a bit of a long journey to find treatment that really kicks things...

The pentasa didn't work for me either 
My GI at the time, just took me off it and started me on the Imuran, while still on the Prednisone. He might have made my switch so easliy and quickly because I had an allergic reaction to the Pentasa, it made me really sick.
How long have you been on it? It is your body and you would know best if its not working!

Sue, sorry to hear Pentasa isn't working for you.
Pentasa just gave me something to look at after the fact. About 12 or 16 a day?
I have a Sibling with Crohns who goes to a different Clinic than I do.
Put her on Remicade Fairly Quick. And Pentasa.
Seems like The GI doesn't GET IT and just drag thier feet sometimes???
Struggling and Not Being listened to SUCKS !
Hope They Figure it out and You get to feeling better...
