Hi everyone had a endscopy last week as my stomach was swollen and they found ulcers in and around my stomach the biopsy came back as positive for h pylori gastritis seen consultant today who thinks crohns is also involved so on 2 weeks course of antibiotics just wondering if this is common condition with us with ibd

Sorry to hear you have H.pylori additionally to your crohns.
The antibiotic should take care of it.
It is my opinion that because you have crohns it does not mean you will also get H.pylori
It is known that crohns does affect the immune system lowering it which could pave the way for other infections that could include it.
Hopefully You will soon feel better with the antibiotic therapy.
If crohns is also present in the biopsies this will be demonstrated in the lab tests.
Did you also have a colonoscopy ?
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

Hi Pete
It's good to hear you will shortly have a colonoscopy and this will give the added information for the doctors to prescribe the most appropriate treatment if you have further
Evidence of Crohns.
Feel better
Hugs Trysha

I had Hpylori too and it took me a month of being on antibiotics to get rid of it, which then caused a bacterial overgrowth.

So, if you're going to use antibiotics for a long time, you'd better increase your intake of yogurt, kefir and buttermilk if you can tolerate those to avoid a bacterial overgrowth.

Thanks zhassanz just struggling with the antibiotics at the moment seems to be irritating my crohns my wife as got me loads of yogurts and shes going to get me some buttermilk to try today so hopefully they will help
