Here is my current situation, I will try to be brief....

I have been having burning with urination x 3 months now, in addition to that I have had the feeling to push when I have to urinate with minimal evacuation.

The first month of my symptoms my culture showed an overgrowth of staph, + for RBC and WBC, as well as nitrates and slight protein.

I was placed on 3 different antibiotics for the first month with slight improvement of getting rid of some of the staph and improving all the rest~
( we all have staph, so can be normal for it to show at times)

I did have minimal relief, however I still had the burning:-(

I have slight blood at times but not sure if that is from the CD or my urine.

I was seen by Infectious disease and they did not come up with anything last month and that culture showed normal flora with microscopic blood at a moderate level. ( still symptomatic).

I must add that I have ongoing fever's of "unknown origin" lowest is at 99.0 (ear) and my highest was last weekend at 102.9, with no other symptoms than the burning and normal CD stuff, fever's are daily and that alone is making me so wiped out!

I was seen by the urologist in Boston yesterday and he has scheduled me for a cystoscopy on the 17th, They also did an ultrasound to see if I may be holding urine after I go, (that was positive for urine remaining in my bladder.)

I guess I am wondering , has this ever happen to anyone being on Remicade and 6-MP TOGETHER ( treatment now going on 9 months)

The urologist stated he will be looking for structural, stone or the big CA.

If you have had this procedure is it very painful once I am awake from the anesthesia?

I am looking forward to not being in so much pain and feeling normal in that area again~.

I am also scared (I know wimpy) lol. Of the pain from the procedure, so any advice would be greatly appreciative!

Sorry so long and thank you with all my heart for reading and if you have any advice please know I am greatful!!!!!!

I debated replying to this as I'm not sure how helpful my answer will be. I've had a few cystoscopies. One I had whilst under general anaesthesia while I was having surgery for something else. For a day or two afterwards it stung when I peed. I had a second cystoscopy without general anaesthetic. It was one of the most painful things I'd ever experienced - I passed out from the pain. I had another procedure which didn't involve a cystoscopy, but did involve having something put into my bladder, and same thing - I passed out.

The one thing I refuse to do now is have anything put into my bladder while I'm awake. I came close to needing a catheter after my last surgery, and was so glad that it turned out I didn't need one.

But what I can tell you is that my pain was not considered normal. I've no idea why it hurt me so much, but the doctors were very surprised. I'd been advised that it would cause discomfort, but not severe pain.

I wasn't on the medications you mention, so sorry I can't be more helpful!

If you are going to be under anaesthesia for the cystoscopy, I think it's very unlikely you'll experience much pain afterwards. Like I said, even with my abnormal tendency to pain when anything is inserted into my bladder, when I had a cystoscopy whilst under general anaesthesia, the pain I experienced afterwards was very mild.

I had a cystoscopy and local anesthesia was used in the form of an anesthetic foam.
I felt nothing at all, no pain and it seemed not much different to having a pap smear done.
There was a screen and while watching and participating with the urologist I saw a small tumor.
The urologist then arranged surgery at a later date and he removed the tumour under general anesthetic. It was same day surgery and once home I rested but was quite comfortable, no pain pills needed although they were supplied.
It was a breeze for me.
The next 24hrs there was slight pain and a little blood when urinating and that was it.
The pathology report found no cancer and the final diagnosis was cystitis cystica.
I have never looked back and no longer need to see the urologist.
Quite a success story.
Hopefully it will be the same for you.
Feel better soon.
Hugs and best wishes

I've had a cystocopy done and it wasn't painful. They use some numbing cream. I got to look at a screen and the doc pointed out various things in the bladder. I did not have a bladder infection. I was having difficulty empting my bladder. I had some burning upon urination for a couple of days afterward but that was about all as for as discomfort goes.

The biggest thing to do is relax.

Let us know how things went after your cystoscopy.

So....I had the procedure done, he found that my bladder is inflamed and I had a growth that he did a biopsy on.

I will not know the results for a few weeks.

I am feeling better but, continue to have the burning which is just horrible at times~

I will let everyone know when I get my results back!

Thank you for all the support! Xo
