I had an MRE done two weeks ago and the doctor still hasn't read the results. his assistant said that he had to discuss my case with the team of doctors and get back with me. i was supposed to get them last Monday, but he was in surgery all day so the case conference was put off until today. i called today and his assistant was out for the day so i couldn't get any information. i have always had doctors read the results right away and they never say they are going to discuss them with the team? has this happened to anyone? should i be worried?

The radiologist looks at the MRE images and the GI usually just reads the report. Sometimes the GI will also look at the images but they normally aren't qualified to assess them.

In my opinion, more than 48 hours of not getting back to you on this is unacceptable. You should not be kept worrying. I would call up and be persistent that you need to know the results.

I agree with noguts. It's been over 2 weeks and nobody notified you. Call the office and tell the RN or whoever that it is totally unacceptable and you want to know NOW.

It's your right as a patient to be in the know. It's your body and you need to make decisions based upon the outcome such as what is the next step in getting you well.

Don't take their cr@p. If worse comes to worse, ask to speak with the office manager and tell her that nobody has told you your results. hang in there.

i have been calling the office a lot, but my surgeon has not looked at them and has not come up with a plan yet (he is going to discuss it with the team of surgeons). i just have never had this happen before. usually the assistant talks to the surgeon and he tells her what his plan is and she calls me and tells me.

Are you scheduled to have surgery? Usually you would have a gastro look this over not a surgeon unless you have been recommended for surgery by the gastro.
