Hello everyone.

So I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was nine. It's funny to think about it, but I guess since I'm 18 now, I've had it for half of my life so far already. haha. Well anyway, I've had two major flares since I was first diagnosed. One was a few years ago, when I was in eighth grade, and the other is currently in progress, I guess you could say. (I'm a senior in high school now.)

My current flare started back in like November/Decemberish. It seemed to onset with the stresses of applying to college. First my GI tried me on Cipro, and metronidazole, but I still didn't get too much better. So then I got put on 40 mg of prednisone, but I still wasn't getting too much better, so they put me in the hospital and gave me IV steroids and metronidazole for a few days. I started to feel a bit better, and they started to have me come off the prednisone.

Now I'm down to 20 mg, but I still feel...flarey, I guess you could say. I mean, I still get rather intense pains every now and then, I'm really weak, and any kind of strenuous activity seems to result in intense abdominal pains and nausea. I suppose that could be because I'm due for my remicade in a few days too though.

So that's my story. Pleased to meet you all. :)

hi there my daughters 13 now and was diagnosed not long after her 10th birthday she seems to have flare ups at times of stress like when shes due tests or exams at school or if something more personal upsets her like when my mother died last year it hit her so hard but i think shes her own enemy as she keeps alot of things to herself
have you ever had the remicade before

Yep. I've been on remicade for several years now. I think it worked better when I was first put on it though...

It must still be doing something though. Because despite my current flare, I've been able to maintain some level of functionality despite not being on any other maintenance drugs like immunomodulators. I used to be on 6MP, but my doctor took me off of that, and I don't think I've had quite the same level of unflarey-ness since.

Anyway, it's interesting that you're daughter's disease also seems to respond to stress. A lot of people say that stress can't cause the disease to flare up, but in my experience, and from what others have told me, it certainly seems like it can.

well i think it does because hers started when when my sister in law had to run away to a refuge to escape an abusive partner and we told both the kids to stay away and she loved her aunt to bits and i think like the rest of us didnt know how to cope then just after that she was ill when she had her tests to move up in school then when my mother died and most recent was her tests for her courses for her final exams of school

Sorry to hear about all that. It certainly sounds stressful! I hope that your daughter is feeling better soon. :)

I am also under alot of stress also that's when I think mine starts to act up but I only have had it 2 times this one lasting over 3 months. Could stress be and issue with Chron's?
