Hi everyone,
I'm new here and so frustrated, scared and just tired...

Will give a quick summary:
47 yo female
2006 rectal bleeding, rectal pressure. scope, 3 small ulcers in ileum, severe proctitis, started on canasa and rowasa, improved. MD said to stop after about 9 months.Promethius test- couldnt tell which one

2010 severe rectal bleeding, pressure, oral steroids, then canasa / rowasa for about 9 months again,

2012 4 days of both sided abd pain, diarrhea ( only about 2 times /day) for 4 days. Scope showed improvement in proctitis, however, still ulcer on ileum. MD not impressed. Started me on cortenema for 3 weeks, as i had the rectal bleeding and pressure again.

Abdominal pain continued. Mostly left upper, but at times, right upper, occasioanlly lower.
MD ordered prometheus test. Favors UC.
Ordered CR scan:
results:

no evidence of colitis/ abscess. There is 5-6 cm loop in thr pelvic which shows poor filling and suggestion of mucosal thickening. This may be artifactual, but ileitis is rasied. Terminal ileum is normal.

I'm at my wits ends with this.

I am changing GI's because this one just doesn't seem to treat me, excpet with rectal meds? He doesn't think my abd pain is anything, and feels, " unimpressed" with the ulcer on my ileum.

Unfortnately, my appt is not until 10-25, and I don't know what I should do,.

As I am tapering off the cortenema, I started to see staining of blood and mild rectal pressure. I am alternating cortenema with rowasa, and take a canasa during the day.

SHould I call the GI, ( the old one) and see what he says?
Should I wait it out, and let the Rowasa start to take effect?

I just don't know what to do.

Thank you for if nothing else, letting me vent...

I would be calling to see if the new GI has any cancellations before the date of your original appt. Might be the easiest than to go with your original GI. I finally got a second opinion myself and am glad I did. Good luck & take care.
