Hi guys
I'm currently getting treatment for a bad flare up (40mg prednisone daily for about 2 weeks) and in the last 2 days I've started having a light urgency feeling and am passing not a lot of mucus and gas. I've passed mucus before even in remission but usually with stool. There's not much but I'm just worried about it! Its almost clear mucus. I'm also a tad crampy and uncomfortable. Can someone Help me please!? I'm scared

What are you taking for meds? Sometimes your medications can do that too. I have that once in awhile with my Canasa. But otherwise, I've been told before that seeing mucus is part of showing that your body is trying to fight an infection. In this case, it's your flare.

Mucous is a natural coating secreted by the body to protect against any sort of irritation, be it a foreign body, infection, inflammation. All the stuffiness in the nose and going through 1000 tissues when you have a cold? that's mucous being produced to protect the nasal passages and help flush out the virus.

Same thing happens in the gut. Any irritaton can produce mucous. Mucous is common with IBS, infections, and IBD. Mucous in and of itself is non specific. Certainly can be a flare, but many other potential causes as well. Sounds like it's time for a trip to the doc, and likely the lab as well.

I'm taking 37.5mg pred, 40mg humira and 100mg imuran. It's kinda calmed down lately with the pred. It must've been the flare
