Hello! My name is Lexy and Im 19.

I have had stomach problems for years. Last year in July they got increasingly worse. I lost my job because I was too ill to work.

Recently I was in and out of hospital after having an endoscopy, millions of blood tests and lots of other tests. I was diagnosed with Helicobacter Pylori and treated twice with quadruple therapy antibiotics.

I have multiple gastric ulcers and am on Lansoprazole 30mg to treat them.

Since then I have still had stomach problems. It seems to be getting worse and worse.

I am now on a gluten free, wheat free, sugar free diet. I dont eat any processed food, any tinned foods/frozen foods, anything!

Basically, I have lots of symptoms and my consultant is now testing for Crohn's Disease, Colitis, and IBD.... I have no idea what any of these are and google isnt helping me....

I get extreme stomach pains, nausea constantly, sometimes I vomit (rarely), diarrhoea constantly (which is about 10 times a day, AND THEN wakes me a good 5 times at least during the night), I am constantly EXHAUSTED.... Along with lots of other symptoms!

Does this sound like your symptoms? Does it sound like anything you recognise? I just want answers now :(

If you can help, or just give advice, or anything really, it would be much appreciated!!

Thank you for reading

Lexy!

Hi lexy!
I'm new to all of this and what I've learned is that people all seem to have different symptoms, but what your experiencing sounds tough so I'm sure u can't wait to get an answer! I hope the drs have more tests planned? Look at the wiki on here, it's got lots of information. I also found the resources and booklets on the nacc website brilliant (although their website isn't maybe very user friendly lol)
Hang in there! Mia x

Thanks for your reply! Ive had a look at a few websites and I do seem to have all the symptoms, but Id prefer to hear from people that actually suffer from it, rather than what the "professionals" say.... Due to the H.Pylori, I know the doctors can be WAY off and they dont understand what people are really going through :)

Yeah the doctors are still testing, I think Ive had nearly every test going now! Haha.... Just hoping for an answer so I can work round it instead of having no idea whats wrong and having to try and make it better with absolutely no clue!

Ill check out the nacc website, thanks!

Hello lexy yes some of the symptoms sound v like crohn's , keep on with ur docs , good that the doc is willing to look into things , hang in there and have a good look around here , I got sooo much help and info and still do from this fabby forum xx

Thanks for your reply :)

Its killing me waiting :( just wish it was faster!! Sick of being sick now!

Have you had a colonoscopy yet? If not, and they are thinking IBD, then I would imagine this is being scheduled. There are lots of treatment options for Crohn's. Hopefully you will get some sort of diagnosis soon and proper treatment.
Google does return LOADS of links for Crohn's disease or IBD. I think the following article give a comprehensive overview:

Good luck!

Hello Lexy and welcome to the forum, I am sorry to hear that you are not doing well at the moment :( The symptoms you describe can definetly show up in an IBD like crohns. If you don't mind me asking on the endoscopy you had what 'end' did they go down - did they do a colonscopy? This is quite a good test for looking at the bowel and any biopsies that are taken are good at getting towards a difinitive diagnosis. I am glad to hear that your doc is going to continue looking into things, do you know what other tests he plans do to?

I do hope you can get some answers soon and the treatment you need to getting better. Please keep us updated on how you get on.

xx
