I saw my GI today for a follow-up. I've been on Entocort for 7 weeks, Cimzia for 6 weeks, and Apriso for a couple years. Had a severe flare in Dec/Jan/Feb. Things are about 95% better. I'm still going 2-4 times a day instead of 1, but I'm not complaining about that. The bleeding had stopped 6 weeks ago but just started back this week. Nothing serious, though. Just a little blood each time. Pain is mild and only happens for a couple minutes, 3-4 times a day. I can definitely tolerate these symptoms, especially compared to how bad it was a couple months ago.

Anyway, we decided today to start weaning off the Entocort, dropping one pill every 2 weeks, starting tomorrow. I'm a little nervous, but my GI is confident the Cimzia will keep things under control for me. He said if things flare back up, don't add the pill back, but don't decrease further until I'm stable again. Anyone had luck weaning off Entocort without flaring?

I haven't been on Entocort, but I want to wish you luck weaning off! I hope it goes easily for you, Stephanie! Keep us posted.

I didn't have any problems weaning off Entocort, it's not anywhere close to weaning off prednisone. Good luck to you, I so hope you wean off with flying colors :)

When I was on Entocort last year, after 10 months of Pred, I had a horrific time coming off, joint pains were so bad I couldn't walk. But..
I've just finished a course of it back in Feb, and had no problems whatsoever!
I believe it was cos of the Pred, dunno?
Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll be fine, and the Cimzia should carry you thro it!
xxx
