Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I stumbled across this forum when I was researching about crohn's disease. I was never diagnosed with Crohn's but I think I might have it. Here's my story. I've never had any problems as a child all the way up until my junior year in highschool. When I was in highschool I wasn't the best kid... Got into some trouble, started drinking alcohol, smoking cigs and smoking pot. I had smoked marijuana a lot of times before especially during my sophomore year, but this one time after I smoked, I got really dizzy and nauseous and started vomiting violently. I was puking for 2 weeks straight. Everyday I would throw up and just kept feeling sick to my stomach and couldn't keep any food down. It would hurt so bad cause I had nothing to puke out. Well, after awhile I stopped throwing up but I still had terrible nausea. All my friends that smoked with me that night were fine, they only threw up from getting too wasted. I went to see my doctor and told him what happened and all of them said the marijuana should be out of my system already and didn't know why I was still feeling nauseous all the time. I lived with this for many years not knowing why I still felt like this. It's been 6 years and I am now 23 years old still living with this condition. The past few years I have gone to a gastroenterologist to have Endoscopy's and Colonoscopy's done. The first 3 times I only had the Endoscopy done, and all three times my doctor told me I have GERD, which causes me to have acid reflux.. and this was also because I have a sliding Hiatal Hernia. So I have been on anti-acid meds for about 2 years now... tried everything from zantac to nexium, and now acidphex. But I would still feel sick. I would always feel nauseous... EVERYDAY. Some months were better, and I would remain that way for awhile and then it would hit me... crazy nausea where I couldn't go to work, eat, do anything. Finally I had a colonoscopy done, and my doctor said my colon looks fine, but he did find inflamation in the area where my colon attaches to my small intestine, which I believe is called the ileum? He had done a biopsy and he said it did not rule out if it was crohn's or ulcertive colitis, but just said it was some sort of auto-immune disease. I have tried asacol medication and that did not help. Before I did not have a problem with diarrhea but now I occasionally would get it, along with constipation... kind of a mix between the two I guess. I hate having this problem. I sometimes look at healthy people and I just look at them and say to myself.... man I wonder what it feels like to feel normal? I read some of the story's on this forum... and it's pretty similar to me I think. I read some people would say whenever they go out to eat they need to know where the bathroom is. For me it's kind of the same way, but its more like I need to know where the bathroom or the exit is, so when I feel like I'm gonna puke, I can just run out there. I feel like I have developed anxiety because of this now too. It's hard for me to eat out at a restaurant or go to the gym, because I get nervous and start thinking I'm gonna feel like puking. A lot of times when I eat at restaurants with my girlfriend, I have to leave her in the restaurant by herself cause I'm feeling so nauseous. Sorry I kept this long, but I just wanted to tell my story too, even though my doctor never diagnosed me with Crohn's Disease, I think i related to a lot of people here. Crohn's might be a possibility. It sucks because my insurance doesn't cover for check ups, only if I go to the E.R. So whenever I feel sick, I would go see my doctor, and he would always tell me the same thing and try to prescribe me something, and then I'd pay him like $80 bucks for him to basically talk to me everytime. He also wanted me to swallow this pill with a camera to see my small intestines to see if it is Crohn's, but I just don't have the money to do that. What do you guys think? probably Crohn's right? I get cramps, nausea, food comes up all the time too like i'm not digesting it even after 5-6 hours, hard to gain weight, tired all the time, constipation/diarrhea out of nowhere. I feel like I have food poisoning everyday... and sometimes I get confused too! like I'm thinking maybe I have food poisoning, but then again it could be crohn's, or my acid reflux... damn this makes life hard. Thanks for reading guys... I hope they come up with a cure one day...

Thanks for sharing your story with us! :)

It's hard to tell if it is CD or not. Many of the symptoms sound like CD, but it could be something else. Some people on this board had a hard time getting diagnosed, because sometimes CD can "hide" in your body.

I hope you start finding answers soon!!!

Good luck & feel better!

You need to see a better Gastroenterologist to get properly diagnosed. If you re getting nauseous as you eat, you may have a stricture. The reflux diagnosis is really over used by many doctors. I think they have seen to many Prilosec salesmen.

Reflux was not even a disease twenty years ago. But now, it is often a cop out diagnosis that makes it easy for the doctor, but often a misdiagnosis.

Ginger capsules can help with normal type nausea. If it is stricture related it will not help.

Hi Dan, What do you mean by stricture? what types of diseases or health problems causes those? thanks. I have gotten many endoscopy's done and the doc never mentioned I had any strictures... like nothing's closed off. You are right about the reflux thing... my doctor first diagnosed me with that... and then when I suggested maybe its something else like crohn's etc.. he was like... " yea could be a possibility" so i'm not sure... it's just so expensive to get checked up though.

A stricture is a thickening somewhere in the intestinal tract. The scope should have been able to locate one if you have one. On the other hand, my first doctor did the exact same scope as the second one and never found mine.

You may have an H-Pylori infection. I had this and it caused some nausea and a burning in my stomach. There are some methods of treating this by yourself using Mastic Gum. I used a frequency method, but most people do not have frequency generators laying around.

You may have a couple of different things going on, but you can see if the Mastic Gum helps the nausea. At least then you have an idea if this is a factor or not. If it does turn out to be H-Pylori, the acid blockers are going to make it worse in the long run. It makes the stomach less hostile to the bacteria and allows it to survive easier.

Hi Dan, I was tested positive for H. Pylori awhile ago and I was on antibiotics along with 2 other things i forgot what they were called. I did another endoscopy and they did a biopsy and said that the H. Pylori has been eradicated. The reason why I am on acid blockers is because I have a Haital Hernia and my sphincter does not close up anymore so a lot of acid comes up. But I do get the watery stool all the time and I have a lot of gas. Like when I feel nauseous, usually if I burp I feel better for a little bit. I feel like my doctor has given up on me. I have seen him many times and he just talks to me and then prescribes me another medication that does nothing for me. I've seen other doctors and when I give them all the paper work I have from my other doctor, they tell me that the paper work is not enough for them, and if I want to go to them I would have to get all those endoscopy's and colonoscopy's done again by them so they can see for themselves. I guess I wouldn't mind doing everything again... but once again just costs way too much. One thing that sucks about my insurance is that it doesn't cover check ups. And now that I want to upgrade my insurance so it can cover this, they won't let me because I already have a condition. sucks.
