Hi everyone!
I recently just stumbled across this forum...I see some familiar names from other support boards which is kinda neat!
Anyways, I'm 39 soon to be 40 this year I've had crohns (specifically crohns-colitis) as well as perianal crohns skin tags for 16 yrs now.
My CD started out in the anus and moved internally, when I first became sick and easily as well as quickly DX I had it in my anus (perianal crohns skin tags which were actually mistook for being hemheroides), my colon (hence the name crohns-colitis) and small bowel all at the same time.
I am either allergic or non responsive to traditional oral RX (prednisone used to work great but has lost it's affectiveness over the yrs for me) luckily though I'm still able to get some relief from cortifoam rectal meds in combination with some natural alternatives that I've been lucky enough to come across from other support boards.
Due to the fact as I mentioned earlier my perianal crohns skin tags were mistook for hemmies, at that particular time is was not yet known that it was crohns we were actually dealing with since that's where my disease started so those were my only symptoms (for a short time anyways) but before things got crazy internally for me I had these skin tags banded (tied off) as they were thought to be hemmies they were suppose to shrink up and disappear on their own...needless to say since they were NOT hemmies, they instead stayed large, hard and in a constant flare (for the last 16 yrs and likely the rest of my life)...this is likely the reason (according to a specialist I saw after getting DX from a GI) the reason why I'd likely never get into full remission from my CD.
Luckily the disease cleared up in the small intestine, at the time it was only affecting a very small portion of it, but unfortunately has remained constant to some degree (mostly severe though) in the colon and anus.
I finally found some relief from going 30+ times a day of all kinds of varying types of stools from mush to D to semi-formed when I heard about bee propolis, for me it stopped ALL my bleeding, pain (was very tired of crying on the toilet every trip from the intense pain) and even cut back on some daily bowel movements...it helped with mucus too, but I still had/have urgency issues and still some frequncy issues, it cut my BM's down from 30 or so to around 15...then adding probiotics was a huge benefit for me, cutting me down to 5 or less BM's day with the help of taking a stool bulker recommended by my GI everyday for the rest of my life.
So basically for me the combination of bee propolis, fibre supplements (stool bulker) and probiotics (along with omega 3-6-9 great for fighting inflammation) has put me in a better place, it's not full remission but I'll take what I can get.
Well that's a lengthy post for now, but I'll be back to share more later...thanks for reading and it's nice to find more support out there.
Take care
