I would get bad hip pain while lying in bed when pregnant in 2011. It was very bad, i had to sleep propped up on my back to get any respite. After the baby and after my 40lb weight loss the pain is still there. I only get it on the hip that i lie on in bed. ANY bed, i've had 2 mattresses and have slept elsewhere with the same results. I figured it would go away by now but it hasnt. Now i'm wondering if it might be something more sinister than loose (Pregnancy related) joints.

Anyone have any input on this?

I have had lower back pain since my pregnancy (had baby 3 years ago) and am just now getting some testing done to see what the cause is. I also didn't have this problem before pregnancy, and it's something that lingered. I would ask your doctor whether you should get some tests done. It could be joint or bone related, and you don't want that to go on untreated. I think that pregnancy definitely does a number on your body and with a disease like Crohn's you have to take any lingering problems like this seriously, I think. Best of luck, and keep us updated?

Yes, definitely get your doctor to look at it and see. Arthritis could be a culprit but it could be something else as well. For example the cartilage in my hip joint wore out when I was younger. It would cause a lot of discomfort, some pain and I would limp a lot. I wound up having to have surgery to connect my hip and femur properly again.

When I flare, I get hip joint pain. Also, since diagnosed with crohn's I also get hip joint pain around that time of the month. I guess my hormones now play a role as well :/

Talk to your GI but also make your GP aware of the situation as well and see what their thoughts are. A few x-rays may be necessary to begin with.

Feel better!

I am being investigated for ankylosing spondylitis simply because they cant find anything wrong with my left hip. I have had x-rays, MRIs, CT. I am starting remicade soon... I have my fingers crossed that helps!

Come to think of it...its the hip I sleep on too...hummm????

I feel for you!

thank you for that information! I don't believe that is it however. It seems to be more of a pressure type pain. I will definitely ask my doctor though.

Hey, Mish -- My horrible one-sided hip pain turned out to be IT band syndrome. (Iliotibial band.) There are different causes, but in my case it was my lack of exercise and because I have a sit-down job. My doc ordered physical therapy and that was the cure for me. Been paying attention to exercising ever since. Oh man, that was awful. Hope you feel better soon!!!
