Hi all,

i've been on humira for almost 6 months now and apart from the first injection, i have got a pretty large hive/lump and various other little hives each time i inject. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who also gets these hives and has been on Humira for as long or even longer than i am and still puts up with them? My hives don't get very itchy..they just look horrible and they can get a little sore for the first two days but by the fourth/fifth day after they are mostly gone. It just bothers me, more mentally then anything else, that i have to put up with them every two weeks and i just wonder if its something i will just have to get used to long term, considering it has helped clear my peri-anal crohns and i have not had a flare up since i have been on it ..

Are you taking an antihistamine like benedryl (cetirizine/acrivastine), and have you mentioned it to your doctor?

The antihistamine should help calm down any reaction like hives.

i am taking an antihistamine but the hives still persist and the injection site hive usually gets as big as my hand (i have a small hand but also a small body so it is really big on me lol). My doctor does know about it...and he doesn't really know what to do to be honest....his train of thought at the moment is that if i can handle it then i should just keep taking it...and the humira nurses that ive spoken to say its that common that really i just have to put up with it... but i don't know anymore... i feel like they get a little bigger each time ..and im worried its going to lead to further complications down the track...:(
