Any advice would be much apprieciated.

I've never had a problem travelling. Just remember to bring enough ostomy supplies with you (I always bring more than I think I need because you never know where you can buy them when you're not at home). I've also never had a problem with hot climates either. I didn't find the hot weather made a difference at all.

I'm not sure what Delhi belly is...lol...so can't help you there. I also don't dive, but I would imagine that it can't be that different than swimming. I just put tegaderm around the edges of my flange to keep it on longer in the water, but still find that I can only go about an hour before I get nervous about it falling off (it never has, but I always have it in the back of my mind that that could happen). I suppose if you have a wetsuit on, you wouldn't really have to worry about that though.

I don't have any advice on travel insurance, as ours is covered under our home coverage.

As for swimwear, there's a thread on here somewhere showing off some of us in our bathing suits...I'll see if I can find it and post the link for you.

Have a great time in Egypt! :)

Dehli belly, Tihauna two-step...ya know....Food or water poisoning, the big D, cramps. Our usual life before bag life.

I lived in Egypt actually! Bottled water, take it everywhere. Food, avoid anything uncooked unless you wash it yourself in BOTTLED WATER.

Personally I never got ill while I lived there. Egyptians are a most lovely people, just dont let them try to sell you anything! I ate from the area where the locals ate, not the tourists, never a problem.

As for the heat...well. My biggest worry for you would be dehydration, not bag problems. Diving, with a wet suit, no worry, but I dont think you'll be in one because the water is HOT! (ish) So, ask for swimmers advice. Also, check in the General forum because alot dont come in this forum as a matter of course, and will see your thread there.

HAVE FUN is my best advice!!!
Misty

Hi Molly - I am so jealous! I would love to go to Egypt!

I would suggest travelers insurance but make sure you read the fine print and make sure it covers everything you want it to cover. I have had to cancel a couple trips due to not feeling well. The airlines don't give a good rip about how sick you are unless you literally are dying and need to have open heart surgery - they pretty much don't accept anything less than that as a medical excuse.

When you ask about diving, do you mean deep sea diving where you need an oxygen tank? I have no idea how that might affect an ostomy!!!

I agree with Misty that dehydration might be your biggest concern. In addition to bottled water, you might want to make sure you have access to gatorade or smartwater - something to replace the lost electrolytes.

Safe travels - have fun!

Delhi belly! Ah, gotcha! I'd take loads of Pepto Bismol, or immodium...something like that. I'd even take it before you get there (or on the plane...or right when you get there before you eat anything) and head it off at the pass!
