Well maybe.

At my appointment on Friday, I raised the issue of going on a 2 week holiday (abroad) when doing weekly shots, as this might be something I have to contend with soon. There ARE tedious ways of travelling with it (which mean finding a VERY good form of cooling storage, contacting the airline and airport, making sure you won't have any trouble when you reach your destination, keeping it cool at your hotel etc). It can be done - diabetics must manage somehow - but it's a big headache. My doctor's suggestion was to take a shot the day I leave (which might require some staggering of doses over the weeks leading up to it) and having one the day I get back, to make the gap as small as possible. He didn't seem to think missing a week would do any harm. So that's one option, but it's not one that I like.

The second one came when the nurse practitioner came in during the conversation. She suggested taking two shots at once before leaving, to tide me over for 2 weeks. I didn't know you could do this but it would certainly make life much easier! I don't know how effective it would be but hopefully it would do the trick.

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else was facing the same issue. Obviously holidays longer than 2 weeks pose more of a problem.

Yup, it's a bit of a pain. I think I'd have one the day I leave, and not adjust other injections at all. And then another when I get home.
I think traveling abroad with it when it's only two weeks will be tedious.

Otherwise I'd use a cool bag for diabetics: http://www.diabeticshop.co.uk/insulin%20carry%20cases%20cooler%20bags.html

I spent quite a bit of last year in scottish youth hostels and although I kept a stock at one hostel others I visited would look after the injectors in a non-public fridge for me - they are used to diabetics/etc as you say.
