hours reading forum and nothing adds up for me

Hi all
My problem is constipation for over a year. Anything from mucous to thin ribbon like stool, rarely a normal looking one. right now im not going at all and have organised a colonoscopy for this tues. I cant stop worrying in the mean time. My only other symptom is really discomfort, bit of cramping , a ache in my right side. Could this be crohns or UC.
I did 4 months ago have to go to A & E, with fever, shaking and a feeling of something swollen in my right side. X rays showed that my was pretty impacted. They sent me off with senokot an lactose. I have not been pooping right since, except for one week when i first gave up gluten but then slowed up again.
also i had a colonic once an had great relief from this for a few months but i hear you shouldnt do this with UC or CD.The girl doin the colonic said my bowel seemed lazy,
If anyone here can assure my I dont have crohns or UC from what i just decribed it be a big help to me Cheers

Hello Milky,
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear you are having some problems and hope they will soon be resolved for you.
Some of the symptoms you describe can happen with Crohn's but also with other conditions.
No one can give you the answer you are asking for at this time.
You will need some definitive tests and you are going in the right direction to get diagnosed
when you have the colonoscopy.
This is a key test and the doctors will have some idea where to start after the colonoscopy.
Good luck with the test on Tuesday and please keep in touch and let us know the results and the direction the docs choose.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

I'm afraid it will be hard for any of us to assure you you don't have crohns or UC from what you said. Just as much as it will be hard for us to tell us you have. What you describe could be linked to something Inflammatory Bowel Disease related but It could as well not be. I know my mother, who also has crohn, would describe manifestations similar to what you just said but it is not to be taken as a certainty you have IBD. The only thing that can really confirm what your issues are are blood test and exams (colonoscopy being one of the most accurate one).
The diagnosis process can be hard on someone's moral but you will have be strong and go through it. It will bring you relief once answer come... even though they can sometime frustrating.
I hope you find answers quickly. Try to not focuss on it too much, worries makes it worst. Good luck with everything.

Hello and welcome to the forum, I can only agree with the others and say that at this time we cannot say what you do/do not have for certain. You are on the right path for getting answers though with the colonoscopy as this can show what if anything is going on inside.

Wishing you all the best hun, pls keep us updated on how you get on.
