Hi all,

My symptoms can come and go so frequently. I can feel fine and then feel awful for an hour or so and then I feel ok again. Or I feel fine for a whole day and then next I don't but the day after I'm fine again.

Is this typical of crohns or do symptoms generally tend to linger a bit longer?

Thanks, hope everyone is doing ok today xxx

Pretty much yes. I've always found I can suddenly feel crap for no apparent reason and the same in reverse. Though quite often the suddenly feeling better comes after a BM.

Yes. I always have felt better with smaller meals or not eating. Feel worse after a big meal, after eating stuff i shouldn't have, when stressed.

What does the pain feel like? My pain mainly originates from the epigastric area

Pain hasn't been much of a problem for me (at least not Crohn's pain). I can get awful heartburn, but it's short-lived. I get cramping episodes, mainly lower right side of my abdomen, but they're sporadic and the pain is minor. The rest of the times I've had serious pain affecting my digestive system it's been from specific causes: over ten surgeries, post-surgical ileus, blocked intestine, several stoma blockages, medication-induced constipation, etc. etc. So sometimes it feels like I have near-constant pain, but it's actually uncommon for it to be straightforward Crohn's pain. Though I take a lot of painkillers for my back injuries and other types of pain, so maybe that masks some of it. Before my ileostomy, I used to have constant diarrhoea, as in at least once everyday, and I never had a solid bowel movement for months at a time, so I think that was pretty much a constant symptom.

Same here.......When I'm really poorly I try to go with the flo as it only lasts 2 or 3 days.Getting an appointment is a battle so there's no point as I know it won't last.
Of course,I'm quite aware that I MUST seek help if needed, but so far my own intuition has served me well. It's a good idea to make a note so you can tell your GP /GI at your next appointment. In my case it would have to be abbreviated hahaha
