So I've been flaring for four weeks now and prednisone was the first approach at 20mg daily. That was not a enough so they bumped me up to 60 mg daily and still nothing was improving. I've been in the hospital for 8 days and have been taking solu medrol125mg and my blood work has went up and down with the inflammation. The GI is taking me off solu medrol125mg and tapering me down back to the prednisone 60mg to get away from the harmful sides effects of steroids. They started me on Humira 2 days ago with the starter dose of 4 injections. SO My question is how fast has this drug helped you guys out with crohn's disease/flare up? Please help me Because Im not getting better???:sign0085:

It took me about 4 weeks the last time I started. It is different for different people. The first time I was on Humira I responded more quickly. It started to help me within a couple of weeks. I was tapering off of prednisone also the first time I started Humira.

Have you ever done Humira with infusion? Is that possible?

Humira doesn't come as infusion. It is either an injection pen or syringe. It comes in the pre-messured dose all ready to give.

No, Im asking if you have ever done infusion with Humira? There two different drugs and was wondering if you had tried them at the same time? Or have you heard of people taking both these drugs at the same time? :thumright:

Humira is the brand name for adalimumab. Is this what you think are two different meds? It can not be given as an infusion. Are you thinking of Remicade (infliximab) which is given by infusion. Humira and Remicade are never given together.

Yes I meant to say can you take Humira and Remicade together.

Are they telling you that Humira and Remicade can be given together? I have never heard of or have read anything that this is done. Seems really dangerous to me. I've taken both drugs, but never together. When the Remicade no longer worked I started on Humira.

I have always heard that Humira is the lesser of 2 evils when it comes to Remicade and Humira. Humira is made of more human friendly protiens and Remicade is made from Mouse protiens. I have never heard of taking them both at the same time.

Took closer to 6 weeks to notice Humira working for me. I was doing a stepdown from the steroids at the same time and might be part of the reason why. I didn't finish the stepdown until a week and a half ago. I have noticed that the Humira does not last long enough for me between injections thus far. GI said he will look at changing the intervals mid february after I've been off the steroids for a while. When the humira wears off, I KNOW it!!

clinically 8-12 weeks to evaluate Humira effectiveness. Eastwod, as your dr. if you can have methotrexate.
