Im not the one with Crohns, its my friend (for 1 year) and boyfriend (for almost 4 months)

He was diagnosed at 16 or 18. I dont quite remember exactly. Had a surgery with removal some of the colon and he had an ostomy.
After some years he had a serious flare up, and had been rushed to the hospital and another surgery.
Afterwards he couldnt do anything for a year, because his wound had to heal.

He had only some small flare up, only last a few days. But at August it became worse. He cant handle being at school. But we did have some fun together and we became sweethearts.
But I havent seen him for almost two months, and also its almost a month since he could send me a text message, because his flare up is so strong.

For how long will he be that way? Its very hard that my beloved suffers that much.

I wish I had better news. But, I have no idea how long he'll be in this flare. Unfortunately, it can last anywhere from a few days to years. This medical challenge of ours can indeed be quite the challenge at times. Sending lots of hugs your way.

Thanks anyway. It helps me that someone listen to me and understand my frustation. And I want you to know that I will support him all the way through. Even if it will be for years.

Hello lavendel:welcome:sorry to hear your boyfriend is having such a hard time sending :ghug: your way. You definitely came to the right place lot's of suuport and advice on this forum. Like Cross-stich said it varies on how long a flare can/will last. Make sure you check out the teen support group.

levendale, do you know if he is takng and medicine? There is a lot of medicine out there Remicade, Humira and Cimzia that has helped a lot of Crohnies feel better. My hubby flare has lasted from 3 days to 7 months. I really hope he gets to feeling better. :ghug:

He is taking some medicine, but I dont know what it is. At a time he had something he was getting with a drop. But then he had an allergic reaction, and know is he getting his medicine with some injections. Thats all he has told me.

Hi Lavendel, I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriend. It's difficult to work out which medication he is on without any further information, but maybe at a guess as you say he's using injections that it could be Humira or Methotrexate? Obviously, don't go by my word on that. He is lucky to have you supporting him, but sometimes when you're very ill it can be easy to isolate yourself and it can also be emotionally draining for the loved ones like yourself, so if you ever need someone to talk to, you know we're all here. I hope some of this medication kicks in soon for him,but unfortunately it's a case of trial and error with a lot of medication and you can't really give a definite timescale with how long it'll take until you feel better.

Thanks friends. I really appreciate that I've have found this website. There is something I like to hear you about.
Beside he has Crohn's, he also has some emotional problems. And he says to me if I send him some text message with words like "handsome" and "lovely", his low esteem makes it impossible for him to text back, no matter he really wants to (thats his own words).
But I still text him some sweet stuff. Not because I want a communication. I just want him to know i'll be there for him.

Would you like that if you were in a flare and needed to be alone?
