I have had 3 since July. I am not doing well these past few days and was thinking of going to the er but I know they will want to do a ct scan and my Dr scares me about them. I had one about 2 months ago.

I've had two. I've had to drink something for each one and while it tastes awful it wasn't too bad. Just not something I look forward to. It could be worse though and be the stuff they give you for a colonoscopy! Lol

I've had 6 since 2006 (3 this past December alone). I've never had to drink the barium, but had the IV injected dye each time. It's not good for your body to have them done that often, but if it's necessary, get it done. My GI was not pleased to hear that they gave me 3 of them while I was in the hospital (it was an emergency surgery). But I guess it's ok, I'm not dead yet...lol And I only glow in the dark a little...lol

I think i've had probably atleast 3 now. Usually one with each flair / hospital visit. This past summer when I was hospitalized the first week I had a CT scan the night I went into the ER and then AB XRays each morning for the remainder of my stay until things opened up for me. Is it dangerous? Probably, but so is driving to work every morning, smoking, "recreational drugs" sky diving ... i mean sometimes you just have to put things into perspective. /shrug

Thats not to say I enjoy them or encourage them ... If there needed fine, but they better be needed. Feeling like I pee'd myself for a couple minutes is a rather expensive expierence... 8P

heya.. i had a ct november last year, and my doctor said that he would only want me to not have many becuz of the radiation. iv had about 4 mri's in the last few months though, he said i could have as many as those cuz they have no radiation. luckily i can have ultrasounds and mri's to see my problems.

my doctor wants me to have an MRI instead - it uses radiofrequency instead of radiation.

I have had many through the years, at least 2 that I know of in the last year. There was a study done not long ago it can cause cancer. But what DOESN"T cause cancer... My doc's know that there is no way they will get me in a MRI unless put right out. No thanks.

I've had five or six since the beginning of 2010. I have had to drink the barium about half of the time. I just had one last week leading up to my surgery.

I've had 2 in the past month, first one was to diagnose my crohn's which I had to drink the barium, and the second was an emergency one that showed my perforated intestine

I've probably had over 6 or so in the last 8 years. Its never fun to do, or to think about. But... just like taking meds, there are risks and benefits. You have to keep in the frame of mind that the benefits to getting a CT and finding out exactly what is going on so the doctors can treat you is greater than the risks of multiple CTs.
