Hi Folks,

Just wondering how many mad toilet dashes is classed as a lot? I am used to "normal" people (ha, that sounds funny) saying I go a lot, when I am ill. So was just wondering how often us real "normal" folks consider as a lot?

I am about three of four weeks into what I consider a medium flare up, and last thursday I counted 26 times in one day. Then there are ocasions like todday at work, when I feel actually not too bad, when I can go three hours with nothing. Then go three times in five minutes.

So what's yer numbers folks...???

Cheers
Dave...

My absolute worse in the 11 years has been on the hour every hour through the night and at LEAST every hour during the day. But that was just blood because I'd stopped eating by that point.

Right now I'm having a tiny flare, it's anything from 1 (but loads of discomfort and wind), to 3 or 4. I had KFC last night (idiot) so I'm expecting today to be rough.

Even when I am healthy as a healthy thing, I go at least four times a day. Always been regular! When I get bad, during the night is about every 40 mins or so, that just sucks arse! (Pardon the pun)

So about every hour ish, is considered bad or alot then?

I'd definitely consider that bad. For me if I have to go once in the night it's bad, especially when you wake up and it's already there! It's worth going to your doctor and talking it through, because every 40 mins through the night won't help any sort of healing if you can't get the sleep.

During the worst with my MC I could have flares where I would go up 50 plus times a day. Pretty miserable experience. On the worst of the flares I would keep track on paper, but after 50 check marks I would become to tired to do anything but camp out in the rest room.

Had one time where the main toilet stopped working, and the other had issues seeming to barely hang on, during an attack. Talk about panic! Recall joking that the porcelain seats were going on strike after so much abuse.

Glad those bad days seem to be behind me, knock on wood.

Well, take your "normal" before IBD hit and see how that compares to now...

Normal for me is 1-3 times in the morning, so any additional trips through the day and night I consider abnormal. I think 6 times in one hour is my record- sometimes I give in and take immodium when it gets too bad! Especially when it occurs at night, I usually allow 3 trips in an hour before I take somthing!

Normally I go anywhere from 3-8 times, usually during a 4 hour window in the morning/early afternoon, and then nothing else for the rest of the day. I know when I am flaring because I go in the evenings and all night long.

I was always very regular- just the once in the mornings. Now I still go once a morning, but stay there for 15-30 minutes until I am sure I'm done. So 'often' for me means trips continuing through the day.

I have to admit I am intrigued as to how you can go 3 times in 5 minutes because I just wouldn't bother getting up!

urgent, up to 6 times between 5 and 9am then if I don't feel "safe" when it's time to walk the dog I take Loperamide (prescription Immodium)whe n I'm flaring D. and nausea too many times to be bothered to count.Luckily, been ok for quite a few months now.

At my worst I was going around 15-20 times a day and being away from a loo for more than 10 minutes was a concern. I am now improving and going 2-3 times with much less urgency.

That's wonderful! Honestly, with us women, it's hard to judge, as our hormones will contribute to the amount of trips to the restroom as well. Glad you are doing better!

So I am not alone then. Its a bit of a running (lierally) joke at work and with my mates and family. I just find it funny and am open with everyone about it. Everyone is on my side and are probably more worried than they let up, but its my way of dealing with it I suppose.

Work have been excellent with me and obvioulsy know the score. I have had a lot of time off in the past few years of a new job and they have stood by me on every ocassion.

Currently working 12 hours shifts and 7 day weeks during a site shutdown. I just have to plan my trips and jobs around toilets on site. Bad timing for a falre up! Its also a big site so I go everywhere by bike. That can get interesting!!

I fin dthat standing up can set off the next bout on occasion. This was the 3 in 5 minutes session teh otehr day. I just walked out of the toilet, turned round and staright back in again. Twice! With them being public toilets I cant hog them all day long. It also sounds like a flock of seaguls taking off!!

Made it through midnight and 6 am this monrning without havign to get up. Then had a good old bomb door release at 6 and then again at 10 past and then one last one at quater past before the 40 minute drive to work. I have a download on arrival at work, then a quick one before heading out on site. So afar today at work I have only had to go four more times. The last one being a bit close to cloth!

I still think its funny!! ;)

Cheers

Not in a flare"Normal" for me is after each meal, no matter how small, 3 or 4 times per day. In a flare about 8. I take imodium first thing in the am everyday.

At my worst, I would stop counting when I got into the mid twenties... like, I literally had to not think about it... because I just found it too depressing, even frightening. When you realize that you've spent more time on the toilet... than ANYWHERE else in the house, that you've lost the feeling in your legs.. that you just spent 20 - 30 minutes in the bathroom, and been out of it less than 5, AND have to go AGAIN! And you are soooo worn out, so exhausted, that you have to fight, really fight, not to fall asleep in that position. I even got to the point that I took the laptop and cordless phone with me. (and that answers how I was able to rack up so many posts on here AND why telemarketeers stopped calling). Fast forward to today.. 1 - 2, sometimes 3, trips a day. Perfectly normal. When I stop, at times like this, and re-visit in my mind what my life used to be like... a veritable shudder just runs right thru me. But nothing else. Thank God.

At my worst as a result of crohns I was going around 30 times a day. When I contracted C -Diff it was probably nearer 40. But before my ileostomy when things where good and I wasn't flaring I had days where I might only need to go once or twice, Might be a bit more depending on what id been eating.

I just bought a Kobo E-reader last week. I can recommend one of these things to everyone in our game. Real handy for those long lonley hours sat listening to the extractor fan!! ;)

You should get the Pinball for the Kobo.. It's addicting lol. I don't think I've ever gone more than 10 times in a day. You should also check out the psyllium fiber thread and really look into it. I was reluctant to try it but I picked up some about a week ago now. My BM's went from going 4-7 times a day with diarrhea before, and now when I do go it's 1-2 times a day and it's starting to get formed. I'm still new to it so it will get better and more formed as time goes but yesterday I didn't go at all. Huge difference

yes, psyllium works for me (u.c. by the way)still got to watch what I eat though.I really feel for all of you with crohns,I've never been half as bad as most of you,for which I should be eternally grateful instead of feeling sorry for myself (sometimes)

Currently going 12-15 times/day. I've gotten so used to it I think its normal. Can't imagine only going once, and I feel guilty when I complain sometimes about going so much. But I also can't imagine some of you having to go 30, 40 or even 50 times a day!!! That is absolutely crazy. I've gone as much as 20 times on a bad day, any more than that and its just as well to just stay on the throne.

I find coping with it depends on the discomfort of each BM, sometimes the cramping/pain/soreness is bad enough that one BM is too much. Just now the discomfort is not too bad, so I can tolerate the 12-15 times/day and its more of a nuisance than anything. Though doing anything outside the house is stressful/risky when goin so often.

Just had my loading dose of Humira 2 days ago, hopefully that will start to fix things up and I can get into my first remission. I have been anemic for the past few months and that has been slowing me down more than the trips to the seated rocket diffuser. But things seem to be improving as of late, so here's to wishing. Hope the rest of you are on the up swing too.

I am doing really well at the moment and the funny thing is how much I am producing each time going once or twice a a day! I guess it's the same amount as I was producing in 24 hour bu in 2 vistas instead of 20. It's quite exciting!
