Hi Dcliss and welcome to the community.

I've never used an Asacol enema it so I can't comment on that aspect, hopefully someone else can.

As for whether or not it will work, do you have a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease? If so, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, or something else? And are you on any medications?

never used that enema but have used the pred one. Make sure you use some lube as its easier to insert (I use E45 cream) shove it in as far as possible and hope for the best

I'm currently on Humira shots :( asacol tabs and azathioprine been on them for 10 year maybe more no cramps at all just going to toilet a lot like water :( they suggested using this enema because the worst bit is at the end of the colon but feel like giving up and simply have the bag lol

OK well I have used these and they are simple. Still some basics that I found worked better than just shoving it in and hoping for the best. Like the instructions say, do it before bed so you will be laying down and not walking, it works better that way. The tip is lubricated but it can feel sharp, it's plastic so check it first if there are any defects in the manufacture, like molding or edges that you can just rub off with a fingernail. I kneel down with my head down on the ground almost, with my butt in the air. I hold the enima in my right hand with my thumb on the back. Do insert slowly, let your anus adjust to the foreign body, and it should go right in. Push it in all the way. Squeeze all the contents in, I sometimes use two hands to do this, with thumbs on the bottom of the reservoir.

It feels pretty demeaning at first but you get used to it. Seemed to work great when I was having bleeding around my rectum, cleared it up in a week. Hope it works for you. Oh and have some paper ready, you will want to wipe the lubricant off when you've removed the enima. Use your muscles too to keep the liquid in there while you get off to bed. Good luck.

I find the only issue I have with them is holding them in I'm finding it really hard before I have a strong urgency to go to the toilet an urgency that simply cannot wait :(
