Hey so i just asked my GI if he wants to start me back on Humira after everyone gives the thumbs up. I am really nervous cuz he said I would have to get used to it all over again like the first time(FUCK) . I hate Humira!! I don't know if it did any good in the 2 years I was on it i mean i did end up having a permanent stoma. Anyways I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and how it worked out. I don't want to be on toxic Crohns meds anymore. any suggestions on meds that i can take that are not so harmfull?
supplements? vitamins? thanks everyone so much

dx'd 2002 severe crohns disease
past meds: pentasa,azathioprine,prednisone, Humira,
current meds: medical marijuana and multivitamins, dilaudid, docusate sodium

2010 dx'd with complex perennial disease and had anal fistula drainage surgery 3 times then started Humira

2014: Ostomy surgery(permanent)

Well if you didn't do well with it and ended up with a stoma I'd look into other options. Where is your disease located and is it active now post-op? The drugs with the least scary side effects are 5-ASA but they don't hold a candle in comparison to immunosuppressive meds or biologics like Humira.

There are certainly supplements that may help but it sounds like you may need a maintenance medication to avoid further intestinal damage.

I think its located in small bowel not sure though, and no it is not active right now in fact im having the best looking bowel movements in years

I did some research about surgery and remission. It seems like you have a much lower risk of flaring if after surgery you take either remicade or Humira in combination with Aziathropine.
