Ill be starting humira this month and my wife is taking fertility treatments. Any cases of humira effecting sperm in the sense of reported cases of birth defects or lowering sperm count? We have been told that there were with imuran so wanting to be sure about humira. THANK YOU!

The only info I've heard were the cautionary disclaimers during one of their commercials. It went by PDQ, but I believe they mentioned issues with intimacy while taking Humira. (that the drug could be passed onto a partner during intercourse). You really need to discuss it with your doctors... yours and your wifes. (eeer, wives... no, that doesn't look right. Then again, how close to Utah is North Dakota? Forgive this nonsense... just remember I am on medication).

I am under the impression that all of the drugs I take get passed on during intercourse. I have not read anything specific about Humira and sexual dysfunctions, I have read through the entire front and back of that table cloth long drug facts you get with Humira too. But then again who can be sure.

I agree with Kev. You should discuss your concerns with your GI doctor. Your wife's gynecologist may be a good resource as well.

Since you are clearly able to use the internet you may also want to do some online searches for information from reliable sources like Medscape.

We are doing infertility treatments also and I take humaria. I was the one who had issues and dr didn't mention humaria and birth defects. I am taking hcg injection and a fertility supplement which has helped my numbers in all areas.
Basically all my doctors tell me there really hasn't been an specific study a about birth defects but nothing reported.
I am leaving it in the hands of God this fear.
It is nice finding another crohns patients on here going through infertility treatment. The stress is a killer. If you ever want to talk inbox
