Humira - feeling spaced out

Hi everyone,

I first injected humira on Friday, had 160ml of it. I started feeling very spaced out, and I struggled to focus on more than one thing. My speech became slower and slurred. I went to the doctors' and they advised me that it was a side effect and it should go very soon. I am still experiencing it two days after I had initially injected. I was wondering if anybody else has had this experience and how long it lasted for?

My daughter had this too, with her loading doses. It started to get better after the second month of injections.

We have the injections done by a nurse at our clinic, because our daughter is young. She literally couldn't remember that she had just had a shot, 5 minutes after. Another time, she couldn't remember her name. It really freaked me out, but it does go away after your body adjusts to the medication. At least, it is better for her.

The first time she had the injections it lasted for a day or so (not intensely), the second set she had a nap afterwards and seemed pretty good when she woke up. The third time which was her first regular dosage, she seemed to handle it very well with no real "hangover".

I think the side effect will lesson with time and exposure.

Hi Pilgrim,

Yes, I temporarily couldn't remember my address when I spoke to some doctors. Just finding it absolutely bizarre how spaced out and out of it I've been feeling on it! Glad I've not been the only one and hoping your daughter is feeling better!

Hoping it's going to calm down tomorrow but it's been over a day which is frustrating.

It was my pleasure, I just wanted you to know you're not alone!

She is doing so much better. She has been on Humira for 3 months and her calprotectin tests (inflammation marker) are seriously reduced, and energy levels are amazing, I've never seen her like this in her life! I hope it continues.

I hope you get good results and adjust quickly. It is incredible when things start to feel normal. Let us know if the next dose seems any better.

Awe, good luck hun. I hope you are feeling better soon. I couldn't imagine feeling that way. It would be hard to function on a daily basis like that. Sending positive thoughts your way.
