I developed antibodies to Remicade and had a bad reaction to it at the last infusion so I'm going to start Humira. Is it possible to develope antibodies to Humira the way you can develope antibodies to remicade?

Hi,

I would have thought that the same sort of reaction was less likely. Remicade is built from a mouse derived protein, whereas Humira is based on a human sourced protein.

Take a look around the forum, there is a lot of information on here. If you still have concerns after that, please talk to you GI or Nurse Specialist.

If you do go with Humira I hope it works for you.

Yes, it's possible. My doctor has me on methotrexate, even though it does not appear to help me, to help prevent my body from producing antibodies. Hope this helps!

Hi
I had a bad reaction to remicade ended up having convulsions and all the other fun ones that come along with it. I have been on humira for about 6 months now and still havnt had a reaction, I only got to six months with remicade. I had a bit of chest tightness when I first started humira but that has settled down. It takes a lot longer than remi to work I had to re-do loading doses and now on weekly, but it slowly seems to be helping.
Hope everything goes well for you whatever you choose

I believ that the greatest risk of creating antibodies is when the same injection point has been used multiple times. That is why you are told to move the area you inject into around with each shot.

I rotate, right thigh, stomach then left thigh. You can even inject into the fat of your arm, around the triceps. Hope this helps.
